Grass tile tutorial

This time I want to give a tutorial how to make grass tile that you can use it to your own game or whatever you want. This tutorial is a little complex and need your proficiency in pixel art, because you need to take your time for mixing colors and forming your grass tile to achieve the satisfactory result. I have posted this tutorial on RMID group at facebook before, which is in indonesian language. But don't worry, I'll try to translate it here.

first, please see the picture below :

Here's the steps:
  1. Begin with a canvas of 32 x 32, then give it a background color with any color you want, in this tutorial, I choose the pale one.
  2. Next, make a sketch for your grass, rough is okay, in this tutorial I give it thick and straight. use a brighter color than the background for it.
  3. Add some shading to your grass, use a little darker color to make it fused with the background.
  4. then, we need a highlight for the grass, use a little brighter color on the grass, if you want to make your grass looks nice, I suggest you to choose a green-yellow color.
  5. Now, let's make a shadow effect for the grass, just use a more darker color of your grass. add it accordance with the shape of your grass.
  6. After your main grass is done, now let's do the second one, the darker grass, just repeat the 2-5 steps but use a more darker color for it.
  7. It's time to mix your background color, take your time for mixing the background color till your grass color is satisfy you.
  8. Last step, just add some detailed color for the background to make it more dynamic, and then fix your grass shape now to make it more neat and nice. save your grass to use it on your game or whatever you want.
